LARGE COPPER, HISTORIC INTRODUCED RACE, TIPPERARY, IRELAND. Lycaena dispar rutilus, introduced into Tipperary by Col. E. Bagwell Purefoy, circa 1914, the colony thrived under management until the thirties. This race is actually harder to obtain thandispar dispar - extract from British Butterfly Aberrations and Rarities, Worldwide Butterflies, Sherborne, Dorset, catalogue issued November 1993.
