NEEDHAM BREECH LOADING CONVERSION OF M1861/63 RIFLE MUSKET, Patent 1865 in Britain, originally manufactured as a muzzle loader by Alfred Jenks & Son, Bridesburg, U.S.A. in 1865, converted in a rented premises in Trenton New Jersey circa 1869. May have been used by The Fenians in their attack on Canada in 1870. The rifle is an antique .58 cal centrefire in working order but with heavy pitting on the outside. U.S. Patent by J.R.G. Needham, May 1867. This rifle issued part of Civil War Contract in 1865.
