ELLIS (fl. 1882-1908) Road leading to Tatar Bazardjik, (a town near Philippopolis in south west Bulgaria, near the border with Turkey, it is now Bulgarias second city, now known as Plovdiv), in the foreground traders with their pack animals head to town, snow-capped mountains in the background, an Oil on canvas, signed lower left, see info verso - Ellis painted in the British Midlands, North Wales, Turkey, Spain and Algeria, exhibited at Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Provenance - purchased from Astley House Fine Art, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire in 1994, 49cm x 74cm in ornate gilt frame with anthemion decoration
